The Burgdorf Winery Team
Cole De Kett joined the Burgdorf team in 2017. He is a recent graduate of Michigan State University’s College of Engineering, with a major in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Beverage Science and Technology. Cole has worked in wine production, as well as in the Tasting Room.
Outside of work, Cole enjoys camping, snowboarding, hiking and the occasional round of golf. Cole has two brothers and two dogs, a Siberian Husky and German Shephard, all of whom keep him on his toes at all times in his hometown of Leslie, Michigan.
Cat Koerner joined our team in the spring of 2016. A former Human Resources Director, Cat decided to step away from the paperwork and pick grapes. She works on our wine production, as well as in our Tasting Room. She also maintains our website and Facebook page.
In addition to her love of wine, Cat also enjoys running, hiking, camping, traveling and anything related to books. When she’s not working at the winery, she is working on her first novel or chasing after her family. Cat is mom to three kids, two dogs, five cats and a variety of other animals. She and her husband, Mark, run this zoo in Haslett, Michigan.
Gaelen McNamara has been a member of the Burgdorf team since 2016. Before joining the team, Gaelen had been a mathematics teacher, a Bible study leader, and a stay-at-home mom. She primarily works in the cellar in wine production, but she can also sometimes be found in the Tasting Room.
Outside of work, Gaelen is also an award-winning baker and enjoys working out, reading, traveling, and crafting. She and her husband, Gerry, live in Okemos and are recent empty nesters, with the younger of their two children now away at college.
Upon entering the Tasting Room any weekday (T-F), you will be welcomed by Laura Middleton. She has been helping us successfully and efficiently run our Tasting Room and many facets of the business. Laura always has a smile on her face and enjoys sharing her love for and knowledge of our wines with our customers.
Before working at the Winery, Laura was a stay-at-home mother. Together with her husband, Fritz, she raised their two children. She also worked part-time as a pre-school teacher and para-pro and was a very active volunteer in her community and with her children’s schools and activities.
When not at the Winery, Laura enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys photography, making family yearbooks, reading and traveling. And of course, her daily glass of wine...
Yvonne Swayze joined the Burgdorf team in 2017. When she’s not pouring wine in our Tasting Room, Yvonne is Vice President of Diverse Computer Marketers, an Item Processing Service Center, where she manages the office and staff, operations and client relations, as well as many other tasks. Yvonne and her daughter Sarah, enjoy taking long walks in the woods with their dog, Tipper. Her passion for outdoor activities also includes bicycling and cross-country skiing. To keep challenged, and to improve team building skills, every few years Yvonne attends an Outward Bound program.
